International Women’s Day is on 8th March 2025, our very own Boss Lady was Interviewed by Bord Bia about her leadership role.
In your opinion, why is important to have women at the table/ involved in business and leadership roles?
The drinks industry is very male dominated, it’s vital for women to be leaders in all industries. I also feel it’s Important to have both men and women in leadership roles as both tend to work differently so a balance is needed
Do you have a role model that inspires you or that you look up to?
I’m lucky that many of my best friends are female leaders, from running a travel company, a marketing company and a tech company, these are my inspiration and my go to people for advice and support – I’d like to think they feel the same easy about me too
What advice would you give women and men on how to have greater gender participation across the board?
It’s vital to have balance in all industries. I strongly feel business groups are vital, I’m part of a group called Wine & Spirits Women, we meet and share challenges, offer support and advice with each other. Supporting other women in any industry is vital.
As a woman in the food and drink industry have you had to make extra efforts to be heard in your work?
100% it’s nearly like an act i out on to speak louder and not to be marginalised
On International Women’s Day, what message or advice would you like to share with other women aspiring to build careers in the food and drink sector?
Don’t doubt yourself, or question if you are capable. Many women suffer from imposter syndrome, I myself did. You feel out of you depth. With the benefit of time and experience, I have found more confidence and don’t get hung up about making unimportant mistakes.
